The 125-Year History of the United Way

United Way opened its first office in Hungary in 1991. The United Way Hungary, under the name Erőforrás Foundation, was founded in 1998.

Did you know? The United Way has always played a major role in the development of civil society. It was a United Way initiative that made donating 1% of your income to charitable organizations with a tax deduction possible in Hungary. This has been a key way for registered civil organizations to gain financial resources ever since.

Prior to 2008, United Way Hungary mainly dealt with collecting and allocating resources. It supported NGOs, which promoted the development of civil society and the improvement of the health and social conditions in Hungary.

Since our founding, we have supported hundreds of civil organizations from large to small.
