Volunteer Academy

United Way Hungary launched the Volunteer Academy wihtin the scope of the foundation, and with the active involvement of GE Volunteers.

UWH has organized Days of Carings for several years for companies. UWH learnt from the success of these events and feedbacks that there is an increasing demand for corporate volunteering in Hungary. Therefore UWH launched its program, the Volunteer Academy in which we invited 25 current volunteer group leaders from GE local businesses in Hungary for a training on May 13-14 and for the second time on October 20-22. These were 2-days long trainings and volunteering events.

What does the Volunteer Academy mean?

It is a training course in which volunteer leaders are prepared for volunteer management, how to plan and execute volunteer days and projects and we offer a platform in which they could share their best practices. On the second day of a two-days program, the participants actively work on a volunteering project at the location of the training site.

The program also aims to enable the participants to support and promote volunteerism at their own company, and bring more active volunteers on board. We would like to repeat this event in the future and we wish to get other companies engaged in the best practice sharing.

Thank you for the GE Fund and the Borealis Consulting for their service!
